Training Facilitators - A Three-Step Process
TeacherLine facilitators partake in a comprehensive three-step
training program. Each step offers them different perspectives,
helpful resources and unique methods for facilitating courses.
Step One - Facilitator Orientation Workshop
Build your local network of facilitators and prepare them to
facilitate courses starting with the
orientation workshop. A station (or several stations)
recruits facilitator trainees for the workshop. A national
facilitator trainer will help the station to conduct the workshop. All
facilitators who wish to enroll in the six-week OFT course must attend
an orientation workshop.
Step Two - Online Facilitator Training (OFT)
Upon completion of the orientation workshop, trainees must enroll in
the six-week
OFT course where they will learn strategies for initiating and
supporting the development of an online community.
Step Three - Facilitators United Network (FUN)
Facilitator support does not end after the six-week course.
Facilitators have access to a support course made just for them - the
FUN course. Facilitators can go to the FUN for ongoing support,
resources, new ideas and discussions.
Facilitators United Network
The FUN is an online forum (Blackboard course
environment) where TeacherLine facilitators can continue their
learning once the OFT is over. In the FUN they can:
-
Stay connected to their OFT cohort.
-
Meet current facilitators in the Welcome Wagon.
-
Receive essential program updates from PBS
TeacherLine.
-
Check for new resources when they facilitate a new
course.
-
Learn and share effective facilitation techniques.
-
Collaborate with other facilitators.
-
Participate in special online events exclusive to
facilitators.
-
Continue their professional growth.
-
Request a mentor the first time they teach a course.
-
Apply to receive graduate credit for the OFT.
-
Access a library of approved graphics and images for
use in courses.
-
Access evaluation survey results
